Super Bowl Sanchez? Late Game Heroics Make Jets Look Like Super Bowl Team
Three weeks in a row.
Week 9, November 7th, At Detroit
Big Idea: Mark Sanchez two minute drill leads Jets to overtime game winning kick.
Jets win 23-20
Week 10, November 14th, At Cleveland
Big Idea: Jets blow lead in the fourth quarter. With :30 left in overtime, Sanchez throws a slant to Santonio Holmes who runs to make a 37 yard game winning touchdown.
Jets win 26-20
Week 11, November 21th, Houston
Big Idea: Jets blow lead in the 4th quarter giving up 20 unanswered points. Mark Sanchez in the final minute runs a no timeout offense and in 5 plays creates a Jet touchdown after an amazing catch by Braylon Edwards and then a 6 yard catch for a touchdown my Santonio Holmes (again!).
Jets win 30-27
The Jets came into the season as Super Bowl contenders because of their great defense of All-Pro's including David Harris and Darrelle Revis, after some Revis contract drama of course. Who would've thought that the defense would be so bad in the fourth quarter? What NFL fan would think Mark Sanchez would be an MVP contender in his second year and would be averaging 300 yards during the season and having just 7 interceptions after a 20 interception season last year? Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes have made the Jets FAVORITES to win the Super Bowl.
"Sanchise," for lack of a better nickname has put his "Mark" on the definition of miracles. Normally when you see a team be so thrilling and exciting to watch, you get the gut feeling I have, that they will win the Super Bowl. I was not 100% on board that the Jets would win the Super Bowl at the start of the season, in fact I did a debate on FanVsFan.com saying why I don't think the Jets would win the Super Bowl, but Santonio Holmes' amazing game winning catches should make all NFL fans think the Jets will win it all. Sanchez, not the defense, have made Rex Ryan's team the team to beat.
The Jets finished their season after a miraculous ride in the postseason, just one game from the Super Bowl losing badly to the Indianapolis Colts. Now I think that since the Jets defeated the New England Patriots week two, and the Patriots just beat the Colts last night, that the Jets could beat both of them. The Colts and Patriots are the two other best teams in the American Football Conference including the New York Jets, despited Indy's records don't indicate that. Also, if you take a look at the National Football Conference, the team with the best record is the Atlanta Falcons, who lost to the Steelers of Pittsburgh and the Philadelphia Eagles, two of the best teams on their schedule. Atlanta, who is not as good as Michael Vick's Eagles, are the second best in the NFC. The only problem for the Jets are the Green Bay Packers.
My interview with Mark Sanchez is located at http://bleacherreport.com/articles/407825-interview-with-mark-sanchez-new-york-jets-quarterback When I interviewed Mark Sanchez in June of 2010, Mark told me that if I ever wanted to go to a game to give him a ring, well I did, and chose to go to the Packers game. The Packers seem to be the team that is the roadblock from Super Bowlin' and AFC champs. On Halloween, October 31st, the Packers defeated an offenseless Jets team 9 to zero. Since then the Jets have three come-from-behind wins like I state below. I have another bold prediction, if the Jets and Packers were to square off from Dallas for the Super Bowl, the Jets, the "Miracle Jets" would take down Aaron Rodgers and his defense.
